In the 2016 census, Aloomba had a population of 529 people and the township boasts a sought after State Primary School and a small country pub with postal facilities.
The area is surrounded by mountain vistas with the remainder being relatively flat freehold land used predominantly for farming, particularly growing sugarcane. There is a network of cane tramways to deliver the harvested sugarcane to the Mulgrave Sugar Mill in Gordonvale.
