1.East Kimberley Regional Airport Runway Extension

ConstructionStage 2 upgrade extending the runway at East Kimberley Regional Airport (EKRA) in Kununurra from 1,829m to 2,370m and widening it from 30m to 45m to accommodate unrestricted Code 4C aircraft operations (Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A320). Works include taxiway upgrades, new and upgraded aprons, communications infrastructure and lighting upgrades. The project removes current weight and passenger restrictions that limit the Virgin Australia 737-800 Perth service to as few as 146 passengers. Funded jointly by the Commonwealth ($13.5m), State ($2.5m) and Shire ($1.5m) governments.
